"Non" Vicks Vapor Rub - Homemade

"Non" Vicks vapor rub
As the weather is changing so are the germs we are going to encounter. If you are unfortunate enough to get a chest cold, nothing is more comforting than the relief that Vicks Vapor rub can bring to a congested head and chest, whether you use it rubbed on your chest or in your vaporizer. I offer for your relief a all natural version which is actually good for you, it works as well if not better, it is economical to make - about .75 per batch and does not have all of the bad side effects of rubbing petroleum products on your body (or breathing in the fumes)!!

This is an awesome recipe! It literally takes only a few minutes to mix it up, it is economical and totally all natural! The best part is when you run out you do not have to get dressed and go to the store to get some more! Lets get to the relief!

"Non" Vick's Vapor Rub

2 Tbs. Coconut oil - extra virgin
1/2 Tsp. Bee's wax pellets
3 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
3 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
3 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
3 drops Lemon Essential Oil

Melt the Coconut oil and bee's wax together in the microwave for a few seconds or stove top. Pour into a small re purposed container - a old Vick's bottle or similar would be great ;) I used a round hand cream container.

Mix in the essential oils and then mix good. As it cools it will be slightly more solid than the coconut oil in its solid state, which helps in keeping it from liquefying sitting at room temperature. You can make it without the bee's wax but you would need to keep it stored in a cool place to keep it creamy / solid.

Rub on your chest, get a cup of hot tea with some lemon & honey.  This is a change that we can all live with!

Please remember to keep this and all essential oils & medicines out of the reach of small children. If you are going to use this on small children I personally would check with their health care provider, as children are more sensitive - I also would personally reduce all of the oils to 2 drops each. I am not a healthcare provider, I am just stating my personal preference for my little darlings :)
